Hairy vetch is a cool season legume that typically is planted late summer or early fall. It works well as a cover crop or ground cover option. It can get 3-4' tall and has long branching leaves. It is a nitrogen fixator and helps build healthy soil by adding residue and organic matter. It is best planted in a mix with cereal grains, annual clovers and other forages. We are offering it as a 4.5 lb. bag that we suggest you add that to your seed blends on a per acre basis. Full seeding rates for hairy vetch are 20-30 lbs. per acre. Plant 1" deep.
