I think it will be good to have a thread with photo updates of plots and what grandpa ray seed you have down. This is inner sactum 9 days after planting
Here is an adjacent field called the landing. Spent plenty of time removing rocks. Planted Mass Builder 8/29, overseeded bare spots with rye later. Turkey in plot in background on left near the edge.
Pictures show the same two fields at the connection. Similar soil, very sandy.
I will test my vast computer skills. This is the Far field. Planted with Soil Builder 6/1. Then followed up with Frosty Delight 8/5 before mowing. Do not see much of the Frosty Delight, but culprits may have gobbled up the seed. Field is very sandy. May plant the Soil Builder again in the spring. We have had a very cool summer, many nightime temps in the 40's.
Naturally, I can't get the pictures in order. Still pleased with the growth and the activity.
Final photos of some of the plots. We didn’t get much rain until October and the plots came back. We seeded a couple times without getting rain as predicted, so this was a tough fall. We are happy with the results. Deer are hitting all the plots but the grains and greens seem to get the most action.
Well got some soil samples back today. Did some plots in the spring and some now. Overall the results were good. Just need to add 90 lbs of potash per acre. John O'Brion has posted on the importance of potash. I am a believer than prior to working with Grampa Rays we just didn't add enough. Huge difference in results.
I am having some problems posting. I will try again. I see the grains in the 2nd Soil Builder plot. I do not think that the broadleaves in the first Soil Builder picture are buckwheat. Can you help me out?
After looking at the pictures closely and with noqs1 observations of the top pictures we agreed that there was a lot of broadleaf in that plot. So a couple of hours ago we mowed it off and killed it with select. It will be spot sprayed with round up in a few days. Then when it is dead it will be disked and planted in Frosty Delight.
Correct there are weed issues in most of the plots and some of the plots are overgrazed to allow the weeds. The weed have been a huge issue in my area for the farmers as well. We also rent out a 16 acre field and the soybeans look very weedy. Overall I find a lot of food in each of these plots to be happy with the GR seed. It is time to spray and get going on changing these over to fall food plots. We got food for the summer and fixated a lot of nitrogen which was our goals.
Last post must not have worked. In the second picture I see the oats and triticale. I see more broadleaves in the first plot. Not sure if that is the buckwheat and peas.
They grew different. The top one will be top dressed before a rain in early August. The lower one with the apple tree on the left has been sprayed and is dying. It will be disked under and replanted with Frosty Delight.

Nice work Doug.

This one was planted in the spring and was not replanted. Everything in here has signs of deer eating it. This is 4 galore.
Another plot
This is another new spot we extended an existing plot and added this area. Deer are in here daily.

This is the spot we created in the spring.
Looks like you have it going on Doug.
Nice!
Outstanding. Can't wait until you get some rain.
Grains and Greens 10 days after planting with no rain.
Awesome!

After another attempt at posting, I now see other posts. I don't know what the problem was. Continued good luck with your efforts.
